Kısaca goth rock olarak da adlandırılır. Gothic rock'ta çoğu rock türünde olduğu gibi elektro gitar, bass gitar, bateri, solo gitar kullanılır; ama diğer rock türlerinden kendisini ayıran özelliği ise ek olarak drum machine ve synthesizer enstrümanlarının kullanılmasıdır.
